Choose the route that fits the record:
- For a mugshot or booking record, use the home booking and records path, call the jail, and then request the existing file from the sheriff. A photo request needs the Georgia lawful-use affirmation.

- For someone just arrested, call the receiving jail first. There is no verified same-day or weekly county booking feed.
- For a release date or custody notification, ask the jail what service it currently supports. State post-sentence notifications are separate from a county booking.
- For Glenwood, the sheriff supplies the identified police service after the former municipal department closed. For Scotland, confirm the Wheeler or Telfair side before sending a request.
- For a sentenced state prisoner, use the Georgia Department of Corrections offender search. It is not a county recent-arrest roster.
- For federal or immigration custody, use the BOP locator or ICE locator. Neither provides a public mugshot field.
Records Request Notes
In a written Wheeler request, name the person, approximate date and time, possible arresting agency, and each existing record sought. Ask for an estimate before costs exceed $25. Georgia's general rule provides a response within three business days or a written delay and cost explanation; it does not guarantee that a complex request is completed on that day. The first 15 minutes of search and redaction time are free, and ordinary paper copies may cost up to ten cents per page.
For a booking photo, identify the image separately and include the compliance statement required by O.C.G.A. § 35-1-19. Ask the custodian to cite a specific exemption for anything withheld. Medical, protected identity, juvenile, sealed, active-investigation, victim, and security-sensitive material may be redacted.
